Embodied Eating Recovery Program

A four month program, drawing principles from my own experience of healing a 15-year long eating disorder through the teachings of Ancient Wisdoms and Mindfulness practices, which involves 3 vital aspects in managing any form of addiction:

Regulating the nervous system to create safety and trust in ourselves and in our bodies

Bringing the physical body back to a state of balance

Strengthening the mind, fostering new connections and neural pathways, enabling us to make choices that will bring us to closer to a state of ease, instead of the opposite

Whether you are experiencing a fully manifested eating disorder or disordered eating patterns and find yourself:

  • Tired of trying one "diet" or “plan” after another, and still find yourself not where you would like to be physically and emotionally

  • Constantly having a voice in your head that worries and obsesses about what to eat, what not to eat, how much to eat, "forcing" yourself to exercise, worrying about how many calories you need to "burn" what you ate, etc

  • Having periods of times where you are trying to be "good" or do the "right things", but then find yourself consuming and binging on things you are "not supposed to"

  • Turning to food when uncomfortable situations or emotions arise and then regret it after

  • Wanting a healthier relationship with food and not be in “slave” over certain foods

  • Feeling depleted, exhausted, unable to think clearly and in dire need of rest, but there is a part of you that is not allowing this

  • Feeling dissatisfied and disappointed with yourself, your life and everyone else around you - that feeling of "something's missing"

  • Wanting to feel FREE, VIBRANT and AT EASE - physically and emotionally, in a long-lasting way

This program will help you rebuild your relationship to food, to yourself and most importantly,
to the sacred act of nourishing yourself
- which involves more than just food.

What you will learn from our time together:

  • Radical Acceptance - this is key to moving forward from any form of addiction or "undesirable" habits or behaviours in our lives

  • A deep understanding of the mind and the nervous system - and how they both dictate the choices we make and how we live our lives

  • How to care for the mind so we can start making choices that will bring us closer to a state of balance, instead of further from it

  • Practices that regulate the nervous system, allowing us to take a pause or gap between stimulus and response

  • The importance of the digestive fire and why it is so important to respect and care for it. Understanding your unique digestive fire, and what foods and substances would best nourish it

  • Practices that balance and strengthen the digestive fire, which will then also translate to mental clarity and emotional balance

  • How to feed yourself to a point of feeling "enough" and satisfied - not too much, not too little

  • Understanding your food triggers and exploring alternatives, and/or ways to reduce their intensity

  • Looking at nutrition from the lens of ancient wisdoms, and how they impact our bodies and minds, instead of the standard approach of just looking at food as carbs, protein, or fats

  • Understanding the body’s natural rhythms and why it is so beneficial to align to the rhythms of nature

  • Adjustments in lifestyle - identifying small changes in daily patterns that can have massive impacts to the rest of the day

  • Understanding the lymphatic system and the importance of working with the lymphatics if there has been a lot of stagnation

  • For women - understanding our menstrual cycle and learning the cyclical movement and lifestyle that support it. Adjustments to your movement practice that will leave you feeling good instead of depleted, which often lead to binges and "relapses" during these times

  • Tools for relapse - to use in the moment of, along with practices for daily and long term recovery

  • Caring for the senses - understanding why mis-use of the senses is a major cause of dis-ease in our bodies and minds. Tools and practices to support our senses in the long run

  • Understanding how our environment creates a huge impact in the choices we make and how we live our lives. Creating "sattva" or a "sweet" space in our environment to help us move forward in the direction we strive for

  • Finding joy and meaning in our lives beyond just how the physical body looks

“The gift of “un-hooking - it connects us - it’s soul recovery. It doesn’t matter whether you are unhooking from chronic worry thoughts, from smoking, from over-exercising, from romance novels, from drugs; it’s the same deep process of recovery -  of reconnecting with your own presence and heart, and with our living world”
